FAQ

Pedal hook systems:

Can I hang a lightweight bike without hitting studs?

The answer is: MAYBE. We recommend getting two screws of the pedal hook into a stud when dealing with a hollow core wall (like Sheetrock), but for super lightweight bikes (around 20lbs.) everything can be installed with the supplied mollies, if done correctly. Pre-drill the holes with a 1/4" drill bit and install the mollies. We also recommend hand tightening the screws, since some of the new screw guns are so powerful that they will strip out the mollies immediately. Since there are many variables like, ...we don't know who installed your sheetrock? ...and how skilled are you in using wall anchors? ...our answer will always be MAYBE. We have installed many bikes this way, but still recommend screwing two out of the four pedal hook screws into a stud if possible.

What bikes goes where when stacking multiple bikes?

You should install bikes from top down. Start has high as possible with the bike that has the widest handlebars. Hold your bike by the fork and the seat tube and see how high you can reach. (have the crank arm closest to the wall in the up position and mark the pedal location on the wall with painters tape) watch video

DaSPROCKET pedal hook:

What bikes will work with the DaSPROCKET pedal hook system?

The pedal hook system is designed to work with all bikes. Road bikes, MTB's with wide bars (up to 28" or 711mm) BMX and hybrids weighing up to 40 lbs. are no problem for the powder coated steel hanger.

What pedals will work with the DaSPROCKET pedal hook system?

The spacing and gaps in the DaSPROCKET pedal hook work for the following pedals: Shimano SPD (road/MTB), Time (road/MTB), Speedplay, Eggbeaters, Crankbrothers, ISSI, Welgo, Look, Exustar or any large BMX or DH platform pedals up to 3" (76mm) wide.

How far does the bike lean out from the wall?

A standard road bike with drop bars will be leaning out (at 20 degrees) roughly 23.5 inches from the wall. This will allow you to stagger multiple (two bikes on an 8 foot wall) bikes by overlapping them. MTB's with wide bars will stick out a little more.

Dan pedal hook:

What bikes will work with the Dan pedal hook system?

The pedal hook system is designed to work with all bikes. Road bikes, MTB's with wide bars (up to 34" or 863mm) and even heavy cruiser/townies weighing up to 70 lbs. are no problem for the powder coated steel hanger.

What pedals will work with the Dan pedal hook system?

The spacing and gaps in the Dan pedal hook work for the following pedals: Shimano SPD (road/MTB), Time (road/MTB), Speedplay, Eggbeaters, Crankbrothers, ISSI, Welgo, Look, Exustar or any large BMX or DH platform pedals up to 5" (127mm) wide.

How far does the bike lean out from the wall?

A standard road bike with drop bars will be leaning out (at 25 degrees) roughly 26 inches from the wall. This will allow you to stagger multiple bikes by overlapping them. MTB's with wide bars will stick out a little more.

When installing on a sheetrock wall do all the screws have to go into a stud?

No, only two out four screws in the hanger man (DAN) need to hit a stud. The other two can be installed with the wall anchors that are included in the hardware pack. The screws for the shelves only need to be installed with the wall anchors. You can watch a full install video by clicking here.

DaHÄNGER bike shelf:

Will my bike fit on a DaHÄNGER?

Most bikes with a standard seat and a minimum of four inches of open space below the bottom of the tip of the seat will fit on a DaHÄNGER.

How can I test if my bike will fit on a DaHÄNGER?

On your next ride out find a tree, sign or any other horizontal round object that you can hang your bike from. (3-4inch diameter) If that works, your good to go. :)

Test your bikes hanging ability.

How wide can my handle bars be before they touch the wall?

DaHÄNGER is 14 1/2 inches deep which will allow you to hang bikes with a handle bar width up 27 inches wide before touching the wall.

What if my handle bars are wider than 27 inches?

DaHÄNGER still works with bikes that have handlebars wider than 27 inches, but they will touch the wall and start angling the bike towards the living space.

How is the DaHÄNGER mounted on the wall?

DaHÄNGER gets attached with four wall anchors thru the back wall of the interior section of the bike shelf and comes with an easy to use template to accurately mark and drill the hole pattern to the wall. This will allow you to always have two anchors (vertically) directly into the studs with an additional two wall anchors using sheetrock anchors for added strength.

Will the screw heads be visible?

No. DaHÄNGER comes with four caps/plugs to conceal the screw heads.

What hardware will come with the DaHÄNGER?

The DaHÄNGER will come with four wood screws, two sheet rock anchors and four concrete anchors.

General spacing and sizing drawings:

How much space is needed to hang two (medium sized) bikes on a wall?

An 8 foot high and 7 foot wide section should be enough to hang two bikes. First install the top DaHÄNGER against the ceiling and hang the bike that you want to be on that location before installing the second DaHÄNGER. (DaHÄNGER's should be staggered if there is not enough ceiling height)
