Hi everyone, here are the newest developments in the Shelfie world. I just got off the phone after speaking to our manufacturer in New York and this is where we are at. The core got completely redesigned, the internal ribs got moved, shortened and the back wall is also thicker. A flow analysis was completed and everything looks like it should work without any problems.
Timing
(I am not a happy camper) The estimated timing schedule from my last update got obliterated. I was told the machines have been running day and night and the new core should be finished by mid november. What does that mean for our delivery date? The tooling will be in transition for 5 weeks which brings us into the last week of December. What are the chances we are getting this done before the holidays? Not very likely, even so everybody is trying their hardest, my gut is telling me we are going to produce the first Shelfies in January in the USA. ( Just FYI: This is my full time job and delays are very painful and everything is depending on the success of this project) That said, I am happy our first tooling attempt failed when it did, because now we are getting all the problems figured out and making a better product because of it.
There is still more on the to-do list:
I have moved into my tiny office and I am currently getting quotes for the packaging. The Shelfie will be shipped in a plain box, but to prevent the surface from scratching, we will be bagging it in either a poly bag or some other tote bag (maybe reusable extra large shopping bag???) depending on price. What ever it is, it has to be custom, because of the size and (if poly) need of suffocation warning labels.
It is sooooo worth the wait.
I just wanted to end this update on a high note. My wife has been using two of the prototypes in our garage thru out the summer and is so happy to have a place for her shoes and helmet. I can't wait to get these shipped to all of you, and have Shelfie help organize your cycling gear.
thank you for all the support and waiting,
Jurgen
